Proprietary Vectors Are Key to the FastPharming® System’s Versatility 

Our proprietary vectors are designed for gene expression in the plant Nicotiana benthamiana.

Elements are present in each vector to allow for cloning in E. coli and Agrobacterium prior to transfer into N. benthamiana.  These vectors have been tested successfully in N. benthamiana plants to express different types of proteins including various antigens, antibodies, growth factors, and cytokines. 

The vectors incorporate various functional elements such as 35S promoter(s), viral replication factors, gene silencing suppression cassettes, and selection markers.  Each vector is provided with a GFP reporter gene, which can be replaced with a gene of interest using standard restriction sites and standard cloning procedures.

The compilation of FastPharming Vectors offers a robust toolbox for the production of an array of recombinant proteins.

The two vectors described below, pNBT-010 and pNBT-003, can be used individually for expression of a single gene or in combination to express antibody heavy and light chains, simultaneously.  Critical regulatory elements are incorporated into these vectors so that no helper plasmid is required.  If these vectors don’t meet your criteria, we also offer other FastPharming Vectors that may better suit your needs.

pNBT-010 is a viral expression vector with 35S-driven expression and a movement protein to transport the replication cassette and transgene through plasmodesmata.
pNBT-003 is a viral expression vector containing HCPro to suppress natural plant silencing-suppressor mechanisms that can decrease expression of the transgene in plant cells. This vector includes 35S-driven expression and a movement protein to transport the replication cassette and transgene through plasmodesmata.
